U Brusselu je održana konferencija o suvremenom antisemitizmu

An important conference bringing together Members of the European Parliament on the subject of anti-Semitism took place on June 21st in the European Parliament in Brussels. This conference was hosted by Claude Moraes MEP in close cooperation with the Inter-Parliamentary Coalition for Combating Anti-Semitism (ICCA).
Važna konferencija održana 21. lipnja okupila je članove Evropskog parlamenta oko teme anti-semitizma. Domaćin konferencije je Claude Moraes MEP u suradnji sa inter-parlamentarnom koalicijoim za borbu protiv anti-semitizma ( ICCA).
The European Jewish Congress together with B’nai Brith International/B’nai Brith Europe and CEJI-A Jewish Contribution to an Inclusive Europe participated to the conference as observers.
John Mann, član Parlamenta iz UK i predsjedatelj ICCA rekao je: "Antisemitizam je još i 2012. raširen u zemljama Evrope.
Nedavne epizode kao što su ubistva u školi u Toulouse, Francuskoj, rasistički i antisemitski incidenti ( u posljednje vrijeme u Poljskoj i Ukrajini), izbor neonacističkih političara u Parlamente Grčke kao i pokazivanje mržnje prema Židovima, nisu fenomeni iz daleke prošlosti, već su teme koja zaslužuje pažnju u našoj politici danas. On je dodao da borba protiv antisemitizma treba biti vrlo prisutna u Evropskoj uniji.

The meeting updated MEPs about both the current state of anti-Semitism within the member states of the European Union as well as the current developments by European Union institutions, such as the Commission and the Fundamental Rights Agency. They also discussed best practice and recommendations to improve the way in which anti-Semitism is being confronted by the Europeaninstitutions.....
Anti-Semitism continues to threaten the wellbeing of millions of European citizens and the problem is growing. This conference will bring together key experts and decision makers from many countries across Europe. Together, we will try to establish what we can do at all levels of government to fight against this virulent discrimination."
