EU heritage scheme will save synagogues across the UK


Disused synagogues in the Welsh valleys and North-East England are among shul buildings across Europe earmarked for restoration under a new heritage initiative. Historian Simon Schama and broadcaster Natasha Kaplinsky addressed the formal launch of the Historic Synagogues of Europe project in the Speaker’s Rooms in Parliament on Wednesday.

Na UK Parlamentu  je formalno predstavljen (povijesničar Simon Schama i novinarka Natasha Laplinsky)  "Historic Synagogue of Europe" projekt za restoraciju sinagoga širom Europe ,  među kojima su predviđene i sinagoge u Welsh dolini i Sjeveroistočnoj Engleskoj. Voditelji projekta su identificirali više od 3.300 povijesno signifikantnih sinagoga, od Corca do Vladistovoka, koje trebaju restoraciju. Načinili su prioritetnu grupu od 19 sinagoga koje trebaju potporu.
