PRESS RELEASE: Laying of Stolpersteine in Ljubljana on November 5, 2020

"A person is only forgotten when his or her name is forgotten."Talmud

Dear all,

We would like to inform you that we will pay tribute to the victims of the Holocaust this year as well, by placing additional 17 Stolpersteine or “Stumbling Stones” in Ljubljana. The stones will be laid at six different locations, on Thursday, November 5, 2020.

This time we will pay tribute to the members of the Bader, Wohlfeiler, Ebenspanger/Mikolaš, Oblat, Pollak and Bolaffio families.

Boris Hajdinjak, director of the Jewish Cultural Heritage Center Synagogue Maribor, once again conducted research on the fates of the people to whom we will dedicate this year’s Stolpersteine, and Robert Waltl, director of the Mini Theater and the Jewish Cultural Center Ljubljana, organized and coordinated the project.

Sponsor of the laying of “Stumbling Stones” in Ljubljana is Zoran Janković, Mayor of the City of Ljubljana. The City of Ljubljana itself, as in previous years, provided the necessary funds for the implementation of the project.

The honorary sponsor of the project in Slovenia is thePresident of the Republic of Slovenia, Borut Pahor.

Due to the exceptional epidemiological situation and the ban on all events, this year's Stolpersteine will be placed within the small groups of up to six people. Visitors who would like to attend an individual installation are therefore kindly asked to announce their visit in advance to e-mail address info@jkc.si.

We would like to thank ......

Special thank you for the help and cooperation to the Embassy of Israel and Ambassador Eyal Sela.

On this occasion, the Jewish Cultural Center Ljubljana will also display 17 new portraits from the UNDELETED series by the intermedia artist Vuk Ćosić and prepare a renewed map of "Stolpersteine in Ljubljana". It will now contain all 21 Stolpersteine locations and the names of 61 Ljubljana victims of the Holocaust, to whom we dedicated these stone memorials in 2018, 2019 and 2020.

Robert Waltl,

Director
