Dani evropske židovske kulture i baštine organizirani su u mnogobrojnim židovskim zajednicama Evrope, što možemo pratiti  u najnovijim B'nei B'rith Europe News.

IN ANTWERP - Belgium

The Jewish Heritage Days actually started in Antwerp on Tuesday, August 30th with the preview of the photo exhibition "Judaism & the New Medias" set up by the A.E.P.J. and the Centre for Documentation in Milan.

On September 4th in the framework of the Jewish Heritage Days in Antwerp, an official book entitled "Joden, leven in Antwerp" (Jews, life in Antwerp), published by the City of Antwerp, was presented.

Great Britain

Despite heavy rain, the first Sunday, 4th September, saw a surprisingly large number of people visiting the various sites.

As always, the guided tour of London's historic Willesden Cemetery proved a popular attraction, with Rachel Kolsky, a Blue Badge London Guide, providing an informative commentary about the many distinguished Jews buried there.

She also led a large group on a walking tour of London's East End, the former home of so many Jewish immigrants in the early 20th century. Immigration is also the theme of the London Museum of Immigration and Diversity where some 200 visitors, mostly non-Jewish, came on the Sunday, with another 900 expected during the week, which included an evening when Michael Horovitz, OBE, enthralled an international audience with a selection of poetry and prose readings. Nearby Fieldgate Street Synagogue also welcomed large multi-faith groups.

FRANCE

Joseph Kessel Lodge of Marseilles in Berlin

Dr. Andras Kain, President of the Raoul Wallenberg Lodge, warmly welcomed the members of the Joseph Kessel Lodge of Marseilles during their September visit to Berlin.

It was a particularly moving experience for the visitors to be able to share a Shabbat meal with other Jews in a Jewish Community Centre in Berlin after so many tragic years. Walking the famous avenues of Berlin and meeting some of its citizens brought further deep emotions to the minds of the thirty visitors from France.

Bulgaria

In line with the thematic concepts advanced by the European organizers, the annual celebrations up to now have focused on essential events and activities in the history of the Jewish people such as Pessach, the day of liberation from slavery, on Jewish customs and way of life - cuisine, art, the Jewish calendar and traditions as well as on records of Jewish presence on the Balkan Peninsula.

GERMANY

This was the largest pro-Israel congress ever to have taken place in Europe and stood under the patronage of the President of the Central Committee of Jews in Germany, Dr. Dieter Graumann, of the Ambassador of the State of Israel, Yoram Ben-Zeev and of Mrs. Regine Sixt of SIXT AG.

Romania

The Romanian Holocaust Memorial, designed by Peter Jacobi, was inaugurated in Bucharest on October 8, 2009. Recognising the particular importance of combating Anti-Semitism in all its forms, Romania has expressed its readiness to play a major regional role in raising awareness on its revival in Europe.

Emotion and inspiration at the tribute paid to the righteous from Bordeaux

On the 17th of October during its traditional Souccoth dinner at Hekhal Haness, the Henry Dunant Lodge, under the Presidency of Hilda Cohen, tribute was paid to Aristides de Sousa Mendes, Righteous among the Nations, Portuguese Consul in Bordeaux, who saved 30,000 souls against the will of his government that he personally strongly paid for until the end of his life.

In the presence of about a hundred guests, journalist at "Le Monde" José-Alain Fralon and author of the book "Aristides de Sousa Mendes the Righteous from Bordeaux", producer of the film "Disobedience" and grandson of the Consul, Mr. Gerald Mendes and Mrs Monica Barzilay, granddaughter of a "holder of a Mendes visa" each took their turn to tell us how the story of this Righteous person had personally touched them.
