Anti-Semitism Reports Increase, State Department Says By MATTHEW DALY 05/20/13 02:00 PM ET EDT AP

WASHINGTON -- The State Department appointed a special envoy to monitor and combat anti-Semitism Monday as a new report documents a global increase in incidents of anti-Semitism and Holocaust denial.
State department je u ponedjeljak imenovao posebnog dužnosnika koji će nadgledati i boriti se protiv antisemitizma, nakon što je objavljen novi dokument o globalniom porastu antismitskih incidenata i negiranja Holokausta. Ira Forman, iz "National Jewish Democratic Council" je imenovan na to mjesto nakon objave godišnjeg izvještaja o vjerskoj slobodi širom svijeta. U izvještaju za 2012. se kaže da je antisemitizam od strane vladinih predstavnika osobito zabrinjavajući i to u Venezueli, Egiptu i Iranu...
U Venezueli vlada kontrolira medije koji objavljuju mnogo antisemitskih sadržaja..., a to se događa i u Egiptu gdje se i negira holokaust..Iranska vlada redovito ocrnjuje Judaizam a vandali u Ukrajini su oskrvrnuli nekoliko memorijala holokaustu. U Rusiji su nacrtali svastiku na sinagogama u Petrogradu i Irkutsku. Čak i u 21. stoljeću se nastavljaju tradicionalni oblici antisemitizma ( teorija zavjere, objeda za uzimanje krvi "blood libel" i karikature koje demoniziraju Židove )...

The report also dealt with increasing anti-Semitic trends in Europe.Hungary saw continued racist commentary by an openly anti-Semitic political party with seats in parliament, the Jobbik Party, and also witnessed an attack on a member of the Jewish community outside of a prayer house in Budapest, the report said, while detailing also the killings by an Islamist extremist of a rabbi and his two children, along with another student, outside a Jewish school in Toulouse. ..
While a number of governments took active measures to combat anti-Semitism, this pernicious evil continued to spread, the report concluded...
Besides anti-Semitism, the report also notes frequent government restrictions on religion and policies that make it hard for citizens to choose or practice their faith.
"Governments that repress freedom of religion and freedom of expression typically create a climate of intolerance and impunity that emboldens those who foment hatred and violence within society," the report said, singling out China, North Korea, Saudi Arabia, Russia and Cuba, among other countries, for criticism... "Governments around the globe continue to detain, imprison, torture and even kill people for their religious beliefs," Kerry said. "In too many places, governments are also failing to protect minorities from social discrimination and violence" against religious groups including Buddhists, Hindus, Jews, Christians, Muslims and Sikhs....
