Swiss Jews call on government for more serious measures to combat antisemitism following report

Švicarski Židovi  pozivaju vladu za ozbiljnije mjere borbe protiv antisemitizma


Swiss Jews have welcomed a report by the federal government into fighting antisemitism but have called for more practical measures providing security for the community. The report by the Department of Interior notes that Switzerland does not possess the necessary legal possibilities for additional security measures at the national level.

Švicarski Židovi su pozdravili izvještaj savezne vlade o borbi protiv antisemitizma ali pozivaju na više praktičnih mjera koje će  donijeti sigurnost za zajednice. Izvještaj Ministarstva unutarnjih poslova je ustanovilo da Švicarska nema potrebne legalne mogućnosti za dodatne mjere sigurnosti na nacionalnom nivou.

U svojoj zajedničkoj izjavi  "Swiss Federation of Jewish Communities"  i  "Platform of Liberal Jews in Switzerland" poziva  na nacionalne  mjere za zaštitu Židovske zajednice.

“While it is good that the security needs of the community have been recognised, the report does not address or envisage that that the State increase security measures for the Jewish community,” the statement said. “On the contrary, it proposes that the Jewish community creates a foundation to deal with costs emanated from its own security measures.”




The Swiss Federation of Jewish Communities (FSCI/SIG)  has launched a police complaint against a neo-Nazi group for song lyrics calling for the death of Swiss Jews


“This type of proposition is unacceptable for us,” said Herbert Winter, President of the Jewish federation, adding that

“Jews all over the world are attacked by terrorists because they are Jews – a danger which is also real in Switzerland, as the report states. Yet we should continue to provide our security through our own means. This is the responsibility of the State.
