Volunteers from Israel, the U.S., Canada, and Belarus are part of an international team that is cleaning up one of the world’s largest Jewish cemeteries.

Volonteri iz Izraela,USA, Kanade i Bjelorusije  čine internacionalni tim koji čisti jedno od najvećih židovskih groblja ( u Mađarskoj)

“We are a delegation of volunteers from all around the world. We are from Israel, the United States, Canada, Belarus. And we are here to restore the cemetery, clean it up, as you can see, and also learn about the Jewish community of Budapest,” said Chani Kolan, a volunteer from Israel.

“This is a huge cemetery, it is 77 hectares. Warsaw and Budapest compete for the title of the largest Jewish cemetery in the world. It is either this one or the one in Warsaw,” he said.  The cemetery has been operational for almost 130 years and is the final resting place of more than 300,000 people, many of whom have no living relatives.

To je veliko groblje od 77 hektara i predstavlja ( kao i ono u Varšavi) najveće židovsko groblje na svijetu. Ono djeluje gotovo 130 godina i u njemu  je pokopano  preko 300.000 osoba od kojih  mnogi više nemaju živih srodnika.

Historic meeting between Pope Francis and Hungarian Jewish leaders

Pope Francis I attended the closing ceremonies of the 52nd International Eucharistic Conference in Budapest and met with Hungarian Jewish leaders and representatives of the Ecumenical Council of Hungarian Denominations.

Povijesni sastanak između Pape Franje i mađarskih židovskih lidera

During this historical meeting, András Heisler, president of the MAZSIHISZ (Federation of Jewish Communities in Hungary), on behalf of the Hungarian Jewry gave a unique Yad (Torah pointer) to the Pope.

U toku  tog povijesnog sastanka Andras Heisler , predsjednik federacije mađarskih židovskih zajednica ( MAZSIHISZ) predao je u njihovo ime papi poklon  jedinstveni "Yad" ( pokazivač Tore)  .Veliko mnoštvo je dočekalo papu na trgu heroja u Budimpešti .Papa se  susreo sa predsjednikom Mađarske, premijerom i biskupom na ceremoniji koja se održala u holu Muzeja umjetnosti u Budimpešti.

Zatim se susreo sa oredstavnicima mađarskih židovskih zajednica i delegacijom  Ekumenskog koncila u Mađarskoj.

Katolički lider je usporedio bratske  odnose između Židova i Kršćana kao most koji povezuje dvije obale u glavnom gradu Mađarske i pozvao na akcije protiv antisemitizma. Glavni rabin  Zoltán Radnóti   je pročitao pismo  dobrodošlice glavnog rabina  Dr. Róbert Frölich,  koji se nalazi u bolnici:

“Two large monotheist faiths, two religions – with millennia old and valid teachings – are meeting now in these minutes. (…) “The mutual faith-heritage of the Jews and the Christian shines a light onto the present and provides a beacon for the mutual future of humanity.”
